Much more when it’s awaiting an acquaintance one hopes will one day be a friend. A thousand fold more for her, the anticipation built into a whole rabble of butterflies.</p> <p>A most inadvisable position to be in. Too late now. But daring herself and damning protocols at least two thirds the cause of her elevated state. The other third… The anticipation, the fragile hope, the things discussed, the things revealed. </p> <p>A shadow on glass, a jangle of keys and the door moves. A friendly, open face smiles in welcome, capturing the gaze, obfuscating the fist. A short jab, a smashed nose, jacket grabbed, hurled over the threshold before pain even hits. The door softly closes.</p> <p>She’s moving as his weight lands knee first in the small of her back. Still thinking she can get up as knuckles pound the back of her head. Anticipation forgotten, clarity of thought hopeless. Guttural fear that this is but a beginning.</p> <p>The fight’s still in her, but failing. A wrist cuffed, the arm yanked into a lock, the other is secured. A hand helps her to her knees by her hair. The face looking at her is so normal. Normal, cheerful, engaging. “Hiya. Thanks for coming”.</p> <p>“I…”, she starts. A finger to his lips causes pause. He holds something to show her. She only just registers a cable tie before its round her neck; thin and biting at her throat. The pliers came from nowhere. Standing, he grips the end of the tie. It tightens minutely, clicking another tooth tighter with his gentle tug.</p> <p>“Come on then you.
